Sweet and Sour Cocktail Meatballs

I haven't had a lot of computer time lately but I wanted to take the time to add a couple more really great get together recipes.
The first recipe below came about when I needed a really quick last minute buffet style dish to take to a family Memorial gathering for my grandmother in law.
I went super simple and bought a bag of plain meatballs from Costco.
As for the sauce ingredients I literally just used what I had on hand.
Everyone loved this dish and asked for the recipe.
I was so flattered everyone liked them so much
but I also had to laugh because I had just thrown it together at the last minute.
Chefs Tip:
If you have the time, make homemade meatballs.
It's sure to taste even better, but this recipe is pretty awesome as is.

Sweet and Sour Meatballs
Ingredients:
6 pounds basic meatballs
Sauce:
44 oz Simply Heinz tomato ketchup
1 cup light brown sugar
1 cup white wine vinegar
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
10 oz maraschino cherries + half the juice
20 oz pineapple chunks + half the juice
12 oz orange marmalade
1/2 cap pure orange extract
pinch ground nutmeg

Directions:
Mix all the sauce ingredients in a saucepan over med/low heat, simmer for 20 minutes.
Place meatballs on a foil lined baking sheet.
Bake for 20 minutes in a 375* degree oven for 20 minutes.
Transfer meatballs to slow cooker.
Pour the hot sauce over meatballs; allow to cool, cover and refrigerate overnight to marinate.
Remove the meatballs from the refrigerator, place the crock bowl back in the slow cooker to reheat.

  1. Hi Aim, This is a great recipe and I have made it for gatherings and it is always a hit. Mine recipe uses grape jelly with BBQ sauce but basically the same otherwise. Love the Italian sausage recipe too and I will be trying that one for sure. You are an amazing cook and have wonderful recipes to share. These are both delicious recipes.

Thank you also for stopping by and your kind comments. You are always so encouraging!!
